Session Surfs the Streets
Session sat in his room with his face to the glass.
The rain just kept coming who knew how long it would last.
Stuck in the house for over a week,
The yard was flooded and his roof had a leak!
With cabin fever like never before,
Session knew it was time to just open the door.
When all of a sudden he saw a Mack truck drive by....
At the edge of the street it threw a wave waste high.
“Can it be surfed”? thought Session...like a light bulb turned on.
He put on his shorts, grabbed his board, and was gone.
All of a sudden a second car cruised on by,
This time a bit faster leaving an A frame behind.
But how to paddle in, well that was the trouble.
Session tried lots of ideas, not just once but double.
He tried running and jumping and cave manning in,
He tried using a bungee but that broke off a fin.
Finally it hit him like a ball used for bowling…
"If I want to surf on the street, I need to start rolling!”
To the shed in the back he ran and he grabbed an old skate.
With some tape and some rope he finished it before too late.
He pushed the surfboard along the edge as he waited for a car,
When off in the distance came another truck....it wasn’t too far.
This time was different, Session was already cruising.....
And when the truck passed by he was doing anything but losing!
He caught this first wave and slashed a few times,
He carved and he cruised all the way to the stop sign.
Sure his surfboard had wheels but he had seen much stranger.
His idea actually worked...talk about the ultimate game changer!
From so sad and down to totally amped....
Session no longer dreaded the rain, but by the edge he just camped!
A slight perspective change is all that it took,
Now when it rains Session has a different outlook!

We're sure you’ve probably heard it said plenty of times, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." But why is it so much easier said than done!? When you're not the one picking up the lemons and making lemonade, it's easy to remind others of this good ol' saying. If you’re anything like us though, it’s pretty easy to forget this life lesson when you’re in the midst of hard times. Tough, annoying, and frustrating circumstances are unavoidable in life. They're going to happen. And 9 times out of 10, when it rains, it pours. Maybe the things that frustrate or annoy us the most, might just be the same things helping to shape us into better parents, leaders, or individuals. Our hope is that this simple story will encourage you that when the tough times come or the skies look gray, to keep your head up and make the most of what life throws your way.....because in the end we wouldn't have flowers if we didn't have rain.
Keep your head up, stay positive, and keep creating!
